Songs of Love for Japan is compilation of 100 artists (including the likes of Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, Wolf Parade, Sara Bareilles) released today with all proceeds going towards helping the people of Japan after the devastation of the recent tsunami. I was asked today by Bryce Longton (One of the organizers for SOLFJ) as to why I joined this great compilation and my answer is as follows.... "I don't think I have ever seen the kind of devastation as I have seen in regards to the tsunami in Japan, I feel like this world is more and more connected and we should help each other in any way possible, because when you think of it we are just a tiny little blue spec in this vast universe, all we have is each other. If my music can help, I want to do it, without any hesitation. I am very grateful that Songs of Love for Japan gave me the opportunity to contribute, and I am hoping we raise a huge amount of funds to help the people of Japan cope and overcome this natural disaster." Bryce also asked me why I chose "Transference" for this compilation... And I answered "Transference" is about the soul, as well as the power of love to save. This is a metaphor for the power of love to save you from any darkness, any strife, any overwhelming situation that drowns you.
