Duel licensed to "The Wild Within," new photoshoot for Alt Revolt Mag, video sneak peek of "Black Sun"
The first licensed song for World Versus Me is "Duel" which can be heard on the show "The Wild WIthin" on the Travel channel. It's a big step up for WVM and I want to thank APM Music which is responsible for getting WVM licensed.
Recently there has been a huge influx of independent directors asking to use my music for their films and so forth, a lot of them siting the visual aspects of my music, which is one of the biggest factors when I write a song. I write songs as if they were a soundtrack to a film in my mind. For those of you that are film supervisors and directors my music can be licensed through APM here www.apmmusic.com/r-v/shaolin-temple-of-boom The name change will take place on the site in early March but this link is the best way to get World Versus Me into your film/commercial/soundtrack/videogame/tv show.
I recently completed an interview with Alt Revolt Magazine which should be up soon but for now you can check out their site here altrevolt.com/
Here are some excerpts from the interview.
Daniel/AR: Tell me a lie about how you came up with the band's new name then tell me the truth.
David/WVM: I drunk tweeted a made up band name on a whim one night in some bar in Hollywood and it stuck ever since.
Ok now for the truth…. The name works on two levels in both a lighthearted and non-lighthearted way for me personally. The lighthearted meaning of the name refers to the fact that I am a huge living dead movie fan and I always loved the idea of shooting my way out of an apocalyptic world of flesh eating zombies thus World Versus Me.
The not so lighthearted meaning is my trying to understand the nature of consciousness. It’s something I think a lot of us lose because the systematic way the world works to beat it out of us. Quantum theory tells us that until we observe a particle it can’t be said to be anywhere in particular, it’s the observation of the particle that places it in a definite position in space/time. If you stop and think about the insanity of existence, I mean what the hell is all of this? Everything we perceive in this world is within the mind. There is no difference in activity in the brain between what we see with our eyes and what we see when we close our eyes and imagine things. Everything we are depends on our senses which are all internal. This thought intrigues me, the fact that we project the world from within as sort of a collective consciousness tells me that we make the world exactly what it is, so in essence the thought of World Versus Me is trying to come to terms with existence itself.
Daniel/AR: Into Nothing has done quite well. What is this song about?
David/WVM: A lot of my songs deal with apocalyptic ideas. “Into Nothing” is about the end of everything, from our lives to societies to worlds to suns and ultimately universes. The end of the universe will come billions of years from now. Of course that is so far away that it doesn’t mean anything to anyone but what does matter in the present is the fact that the entire universe will one day die, which leads to the question of the meaning of everything. If all of this is finite, what is the purpose of it all? So I started thinking about what is it that really matters, for me everything seems to lead to love, love for a person or art or music or anything really, it’s up to the individual to decide, but love seems to be the answer and the hope that it breaks all boundaries.
I recently uploaded a video that showcases a clip of one of the new songs from the "Vimanas" album entitled "Black Sun"
